Shriners Hospitals teamed up with Goodfellows Pizza and Pub this weekend, in an effort to raise money for the Shriners’ operating costs. The result was a clam bake, part of a Pioneer student’s senior project.
“It’s the first annual clam bake for the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital,” said Mike Miranda, Vice President of the Mansfield Shrine Club. “This was all created because a young lady came to the Shrine Club for her senior project, and what we did is we created a kickoff event for the 2016 Chili and Wing Cookoff.”
Next year’s Chili and Wing Cookoff will be May 21st, 2016, and will also help fund the Shriner’s Hospitals.
“I wanted to do something to help children,” said Lindsey Gledhill, the Event Coordinator. “So I got in touch with Mike and we started this fundraiser for Shriner’s.”
The event was a success, drawing in over $1,000 in donations for the Hospitals.
“Our goal is to sell 250 tickets,” Miranda said. “That should yield somewhere from $1500 to $1800 for this event.”
